Enumeration Type Documentation

◆ Component

Quality components.

Note
All images sourced from NIST Special Databases 300, 301, and 302.
Some components and component descriptions are based on work by Heidi Eldridge and Christophe Champod for Irregular Warfare Technical Support Directorate Task Number FE-TE-4766.
Enumerator
Amputated

Evidence of finger amputation.

Value shall be an integer [0, 100] as encoded in an ISO/IEC 29794-1:2024 quality block.

Note
Algorithms should detect information such as an obstructed pattern or only flat ridges when curved ridges are expected. Algorithms should not necessarily recognize the letters "AMP" that are often typed or handwritten on a fingerprint card to indicate amputation.
AnatomicalCluesPresent

Presence of a feature that indicates the anatomical source.

An "egg" shape might indicate a thumb, or a series of deltas might indicate an interdigital palm area.

Value shall be an integer [0, 100] as encoded in an ISO/IEC 29794-1:2024 quality block.

Bandaged

Evidence of full or partial bandage.

Value shall be an integer [0, 100] as encoded in an ISO/IEC 29794-1:2024 quality block.

Bandage on the right of the fingerprint
ClearCoreDeltaRidgeCount

Confidence that the computed core-delta ridge count is within two ridges of the true value.

This implies clear and unobstructed ridge flow between the core and delta.

Value shall be an integer [0, 100] as encoded in an ISO/IEC 29794-1:2024 quality block.

ComplexMatrix

The matrix makes the impression difficult to interpret.

Value shall be an integer [0, 100] as encoded in an ISO/IEC 29794-1:2024 quality block.

See also
ComplexSubstrate
ComplexSubstrate

The substrate (e.g., pattern, texture) makes the impression difficult to interpret.

Value shall be an integer [0, 100] as encoded in an ISO/IEC 29794-1:2024 quality block.

Substrate pattern makes ridges hard to see.

Note
This is not intended to be a full presentation attack detection system (though it could be), more that the impression was not left by a natural touch on the substrate.
ExcessiveDistortion

Evidence of excessive distortion.

All impressions will have some distortion. This quality component should be selected if the print contains so much distortion that it impacts the overall interpretation of the impression. This is typically due to movement of some kind that affects the shape of the impression.
