XML and Mobile ID Workshop Presentations
ANSI/NIST-ITL held an XML and Mobile ID Workshop September 18-19, 2007 at the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg, MD. The workshop was open to government agencies,
vendors, users, consultants, and anyone else who had a material or direct interest in AFIS technology, fingerprint data exchange, or mobile identification
procedures. Conclusions reached at this workshop are being used to progress the XML version of the standard as well as to develop procedures for use with
mobile identification.
As a result of this workshop, a working draft of the XML version of the standard will be circulated by early 2008. This draft will follow the proposal
by the XML Work Group and will include an XML version of ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2007's Annex G (INCITS/M1 378 Minutiae Format) and a reference to an XML version of
Annex E (the NCIC codes).
The discussion on the second day of the workshop on Mobile ID resulted in the creation of a new NIST Work Group on Mobile ID
- to develop guidelines for the capture, use, security, and transmission of
mobile identification data and
- to produce a document to be published as a NIST Special Publication.
Please see the Mobile ID Work Group web page for information on how to join,
future meetings, and the latest developments.
