Announcement: Approved ANSI/NIST XML Standard Available

On April 20, 2007, ANSI's Board of Standards Review approved ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2007 as an ANSI standard. This approved revision of the ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2000 standard is available and can be downloaded as NIST Special Publication 500-271: Data Format for the Interchange of Fingerprint, Facial, & Other Biometric Information - Part 1 (ANSI/NIST-ITL 1-2007) .

An approved XML version of the standard is now available and can be downloaded as NIST Special Publication 500-275:
Data Format for the Interchange of Fingerprint, Facial, & Other Biometric Information - Part 2: XML Version (ANSI/NIST-ITL 2-2008) .

Updated Electronic Versions of the sample XML appendices are available. The information is downloadable in a zip file.

This version is more compact, you must remove ActivityAugmentationype and ProtectionOrderAugmentationtype for it to work correctly with JAXB and Java. In this version transactionCategoryCode (TOT) uses an emumeration type for TOTCodeSimpleType is not substitutable.

NIST solicits your input on the ANSI/NIST-ITL standards. A log of the issues that have been raised to date, and their current status is available here .  Some issues have detailed explanations.  To see them, click on the hyperlink in the first column for that issue.

If you would like to be listed as a point of contact (POC) for a particular issue, please include that in your message.  We will summarize principal points for inclusion in the log, if they have not been mentioned before.  This log is not meant to document the progress of working groups addressing  particular issues.  It does, however, list resolutions for the issues.
